True\/False has announced Cynthia Hill\u2019s\u00a0Private\u00a0Violence<\/a>\u00a0as this year\u2019s recipient of the True Life Fund<\/a>.\u00a0
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Private Violence<\/a>\u00a0focuses on Kit Gruelle, an advocate for survivors of\u00a0domestic violence, and Deanna Walters, who is battling for justice\u00a0after surviving horrific abuse at the hands of her former partner. The\u00a0film exposes the complex obstacles that stand between a survivor of\u00a0abuse and freedom, as well as dispels\u00a0destructive myths about domestic violence.\u00a0Private Violence\u00a0shows that\u00a0for survivors, the answer is rarely as simple as just walking away\u00a0from their abuser.<\/p>\n

The film\u00a0is part of\u00a0a larger media project\u00a0focused on ending\u00a0domestic violence against women through awareness and education.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0True Life Fund<\/a>\u00a0exists to support people who bravely and selflessly share their\u00a0stories in documentary films. This year, the funds raised will be awarded to both Kit Gruelle and\u00a0Deanna Walters, who represent ideal recipients. True\/False will be working extensively with director\u00a0Cynthia Hill\u00a0to raise money and conduct outreach.<\/p>\n

Private\u00a0Violence\u00a0is the eighth True Life film since the fund began in 2007. The UK-based\u00a0Bertha\u00a0Foundation<\/a>\u00a0provides a matching grant for the grassroots fundraising\u00a0effort. T\/F is also\u00a0grateful for the continued partnership with\u00a0The\u00a0Crossing<\/a>, who will be sponsoring the True Life\u00a0Fund this year for the seventh time.<\/p>\n
