Willkommen! And bienvenue! Welcome!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the uninitiated, our fair city of Columbia bucks tradition and annually celebrates Pride in August, culminating in a two day blow out Mid-Missouri Pride Fest at Rose Music Hall on the 28th and 29th. This year, in concert with the official goings-on, we\u2019re pulling back the black velvet curtains to unveil our\u00a0Tiny Ragtag Pride Fest\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 a five film, micro fest with screenings before, during, and after the big party down the road at Rose.
We kick things off tomorrow evening at 7pm as all are invited to Bob Fosse\u2019s legendary, Liza-fueled 1972 musical,\u00a0Cabaret<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>on an immaculate 35mm print.\u00a0Cabaret\u00a0<\/em>screens as the second entry in our\u00a0Show Me Series<\/a>, co-curated and co-presented with\u00a0The Center Project<\/a>. Following the film, trans activist and TCP\u2019s own Tracy Davis will be joined by local cinephile-royalty Christianne Benedict and drag performer Lindsay Bryant to dive into the queer canon, history, Pride, and the making of icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the nerds amongst us, this marks the first time since January of 2020, reels \u2014 real reels, not digital approximations \u2014 are spinning. With white gloves donned, light box on, and loupe in hand, the print is being inspected as we speak\u2026 and I\u2019ll be blunt:\u00a0it looks really really good.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come back Friday at 10pm for\u00a0The Leather Boys<\/a>. Originally banned upon its release in the UK, this\u00a0important early chapter in queer cinema screens in a\u00a0shining new restoration\u00a0courtesy of our freinds at the American Genre Film Archive.\u00a0The British realist \u201cKitchen Sink\u201d drama mixes teen angst, biker thrills, and raging emotion wherein\u00a0young newlyweds fall into crisis as Reggie loses interest in his wife, becoming obsessed with motorcycles... and a biker named Pete. Additional matinee shows are also available through the week.\u00a0Then, for one night only, Saturday at 10pm we screen the greatest lesbian-conversion-therapy-romantic-satire ever made\u2026\u00a0But I\u2019m a Cheerleader<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>See this high-camp gas again \u2014 see it for the first time \u2014 whatever you do, don\u2019t miss it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, shows of the outrageous, rough-around-the-edges, ultimate-Udo-Kier-queen-vehicle,\u00a0Swan Song<\/a>\u00a0begin Friday and carry through the week alongside Chillian-filmmaker Pablo Larain\u2019s (Jackie, Neruda)<\/em>\u00a0electrifying reggaeton odyssey\u00a0Ema<\/a>\u00a0sets the screen on fire in this declaration of the age-old mantra,\u00a0BE GAY DO CRIME.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
